It's been quite a while since my last journal entry from November 2014 and a lot has happened since then. As you may have noticed from my submissions, since mid 2015 my focus has somewhat shifted from nature photography towards photojournalism. For once, this is because I've moved from Oberursel to Berlin, where I simply do not have the chance to just grab my camera and walk into the woods after work. And the other reason is that I sometimes tag along SheeraLi when she is performing. - But I still love nature photography and try to get to it whenever I can, hence my last four submissions taken at Blankenhof. :)

But to come to the reason for this journal entry: I just came back from a trip to Scotland yesterday, that I went on with SheeraLi, Thetoril and an old school friend of mine. - You know what that means: A burst of notifications is about to hit your inbox. ;)

PS: I love my polarizer! :D

Scotland!

As you may have guessed by the description of the last photo I uploaded (Sun in the Rain), I was on a short trip to Scotland two weeks ago. Although the weather wasn't great (hikes were out of the question without sinking deep into the mud), I took a fair amount of pictures. I am currently (slowly) working my way through them so you may expect to see some more in the days to come. :)

Norway

So, I'm back from Norway and, as expected, I took a lot of pictures. Actually I'm already pretty far in the process of sorting through them, but the hardest part is still ahead: Deciding which ones to upload here. ;) - So stay tuned! :)

Taking a break

3 min read
As you may have noticed, I haven't been doing much in the last months concerning photography. This is due to the fact that I currently like to invest most of my free time in a private software project I started in November last year.

Since I always find it most fun when I can combine two hobbies of mine (in this case software development and role playing games), I was hooked when I discovered Decipher's Star Trek RPG from about ten years back at a games fair in Essen in October last year and had the idea to develop a software for it. Since most of the people in my RPG group have a tablet these days, I thought it was cool to develop a software that would run on my laptop and that everyone in my group could access via the network and that would manage things like space combat, including helping the players with which maneuvers their starship could do and which not and to automatically apply and track all the damage done to the various starship systems, etc. - and of course, all of this in LCARS style. :D

So I've literally spend every free day I had since then on that project and I spent very little time on photography since then. But there is a "but" coming: I'm going to go on a trip to Norway in May/June and you can bet there are going to be photos. :)

After I was not entirely satisfied with the pictures I took at my previous visit to the Mönchbruch nature reserve, I decided to go there again, but this time before dawn. So I got up at 03:00 this morning and arrived at the reserve at around 04:30 and I was not disappointed: There was some epic ground fog this morning, which created a rather dark atmosphere before the sun rose. But, of course, once the sun rose, this atmosphere totally turned around. - All in all I had some great opportunities for taking photos. :)

Of course, under such circumstances I took a lot of pictures and I'm almost done sorting through them, so I'll be starting to upload the best ones soon. :)
